It’s not halal actually T_T

Last 2 weeks we went to Sushi King–to get Takoyaki. We were sitting at the sushi-conveyor-belt bar. They are having unagi promotion for the entire month of August. While waiting for the takoyaki, we grabbed some plates. One of it was Unagi Pirosiki. Super yummy. I asked my husband to taste it. He said he doesn’t like it at all. I feel frustrated. It was my first time liking an unagi sushi. Like, something excite my taste bud. A firework in my mouth and tummy.

Today, while doing baju raya hunting, I entered Sushi King again. Want to do take-away lah kononnya. The manager welcomed me and asked me politely “Yes ma’am, may I help you?”

“Er, can I do take-away?”
“Of course. What do you want?”
“I want to order one of your unagi which is on promotion”
“Er, actually it’s not halal”
My eyes enlarged twice than normal.
“We already put a notice when we realized they put in some alcohol during the process. It’s less than 0.05%”
I looked at the notice. It’s not Unagi Pirosiki. Maybe what she meant was the slices. Haish. Should be more alert next time.
Then I tapau okonomiyaki instead. T_T <--coverlah tu

Rumpai laut @ seaweed

The seaweed was dried. You have to soak it until it will become semi transparent and crunchy. It will take some time to get the best result. Sometimes, some things are worth waiting for 😉

  1. Pound together onions, chilli padi/ thai pepper, a bit of salt.
  2. Slice thinly the red onion.
  3. Put in the pounded ingredient into a bowl of seaweed, and followed by the onion (you can also put thin slices of mangoes)
  4. Give a good squeeze of a kaffir lime.
  5. Mix it well.
  6. A bit of fish sauce.
  7. Voilà!

PS: For kerabu effect, you can also put in a pinch of roasted peanuts.

I learned how to make this from a seller at Tamu in Sabah. According to my brother, seaweed is popularized by Philippine’s immigrants.

dinner at senibong

Senibong is a crowded place at night. though it’s a bit far fromJB, but the journey was worth it. even the Singaporeans are willing to travel to this place for the sake of its food. enough said. it’s better to ignite your taste bud with these pictures.

My husband inspired me to blog about this. When we were on our way home, we saw an orange stall.

Him: Eh, dah ada Mat Salai eh kat sini.
Me: A’ah! Yeay! Tak payah la abang nak pergi jauh² lagi nak cari Mat Salai. I like it better than prosperity burger.
Him: Ha’ah. Yeay! Great food is near. Hmm, why don’t you block about this.
Me: (Aku yang kurang pendengaran akibat ekzos kereta Omar yang bising itu) Huh? Block ke blog?
Him: Blog la. Grr.

We discovered this burger kiosk at Bandar Uda. So, we went out late at night, eating this yummy oblong beefy burger when our stomach was vibrating of hunger. And damn, it was so delicious. I prefer Mat Salai than Prosperity because:
  • It’s halalan thoiyyiban. Halalan, because the beef and chicken source is confirmed.
  • I support local economy. We shouldn’t be dengki with our people’s success but instead, we should be more supportive. Go Malaysia!!
  • The beef patty is beefy. The taste isn’t overcome with flour and other flavour.
  • They put delicious serunding.
  • The black pepper sauce is not over poured, and too spicy.

The new Mat Salai stall is set up in front of the mosque, at Jalan Perwira 8, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah. Oh, oh. They even have Facebook page. Whaaa~

So, have you ever eaten this burger?

Pizza Pending Complaint

Last month I ordered my favourite pizza and asked it to be delivered to my husband’s office.  It was his birthday. I was at his office and obviously it’s not a place to cook and stuff. Thus, pizza is a way to treat my husband during his lucky day. I tried the new dough called Puff Crust.Basically, it’s like eating pastry but on top of it, there are pizza toppings. Continue reading

Fixing Malaysians

I went to Danga City Mall with my fiancé. He was very hungry because he hadn’t eaten for a day. So we decided to eat at Adib’s Kitchen, located at Danga City Mall’s food court.

We sat next to the restaurant’s banner. (Such a shame I didn’t bring my pink T20 that time). So we’ve  had LOL moments, seeing amusing spelling mistakes such as:

  • Pamesan cheese
  • Site dishes (site=tapak?)
  • Grill tomato
  • Western foods
  • Discounts for tenents and all staff
  • The winner of all dishes, Coaslow salad.

We had fun game, searching for spelling and grammar mistakes. Then we wrote the right spelling and gave it to the owner. I bet there are quite a number of people going to the restaurant and notice the spelling mistakes. However, we pay no attention to rectify it.

We can’t only laugh. We need to do something so that the mistake won’t be repeated again. Let us have the courage to rectify people’s mistakes. Not being a coward, only know how to kutuk belakang. Let us improve ourselves and this country.

indulge in reminiscence

Lately I am addicted to classical stuffs. I’ve watched black and romantic movies (Roman Holiday, Casablanca), the great love story that runs for almost 4 hours ‘Gone with the wind’, the ‘Ghost’ movie starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze, The English patient, and Out of Africa (I think Meryl Streep looks beautiful in it). And heck, watching romantic movies makes me become more soapy. My mom was quite disturbed by my boohoo. She can hear me from downstairs. Hahah. Another current activity is, I am addicted to a particular classical song from The Shirelles.

Will You Still Love Me Tommorow – Shirelles

Tonight you’re mine completely
You give you love so sweetly
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
But will you love me tomorrow?

Is this a lasting treasure
Or just a moment’s pleasure?
Can I believe the magic of your sighs?
Will you still love me tomorrow?

Tonight with words unspoken
You say that I’m the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night meets the morning sun?

I’d like to know that your love
Is love I can be sure of
So tell me now, and I won’t ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow?

(INSTRUMENTAL)

So tell me now, and I won’t ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Will you still love me tomorrow?
Will you still love me tomorrow?

A stockpile of chocolates is the best companion.  Huu nom nom nom.

B.Ed TESL finally~

My friends find it weird. I did not get the first class degree but I am in ultimate happiness. I don’t know where it comes from. But I would like to express my gratitude to god for enabling me to get through thick and thin of my study years. Alhamdulillah.

I have finished my study officially alhamdulillah. Couldn’t wait for my graduation day. And I’ve celebrated it with my friends at Tupai Tupai in Jalan Bellamy, KL.
